MUTINA FURNISHED THE NEW LIBRERIA INTERNAZIONALE LUXEMBURG IN TURIN

February 10, 2025

Mutina announces its collaboration with the Libreria Internazionale Luxemburg, which has inaugurated its new location in the heart of the Galleria Subalpina in Turin, just 50 metres from its historic premises.

Founded in 1872 under the name Libreria Beuf, the Libreria Luxemburg has spanned over a century of history, consistently maintaining its commitment to international culture and editorial innovation.

The new bookshop will result from the merging of three property units into a total commercial area of 216 sqm, undergoing a significant renovation. Respecting its historical heritage, the outcome will be a unique combination of the charm of its original era and contemporary design.

The architectural project for the new premises, including the interior furnishings, is designed by the Turin-based studio BRH+, founded and directed by Barbara Brondi and Marco Rainò.

Within the new bookshop space, Mutina contributed with a selection of ceramic surfaces designed by some of the most prominent international designers, offering an immersive and sophisticated experience. The central counter of the café, designed to encourage interaction and inspired by the welcoming atmosphere of a home kitchen, is enhanced with Rombini collection by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, while the walls and floor feature Fringe by Michael Anastassiades. The ceiling above the checkout area is clad with Adagio, the modular collection by Ronan Bouroullec, which has recently become part of the permanent collection of the Centre Pompidou in Paris.

Mutina also designed the bookshop’s restroom spaces, using Fringe collection by Michael Anastassiades and Mattonelle Margherita by Nathalie Du Pasquier, emphasising the project’s aesthetic coherence and artistic research.

Additionally, Mutina Editions, a series of handcrafted ceramic objects designed by selected designers and artists, will be displayed inside the bookshop and in its shop windows and will be available for purchase.

Moreover, the new Luxemburg will also host MUT, small and precious books that complement the exhibitions of the non-profit Mutina for Art project, curated by Sarah Cosulich. This collection of publications pays tribute to the brand’s exhibition projects, documenting them through critical texts, essays and interviews, images of the works, and installation photographs.

With this collaboration, Mutina continues to explore the potential of ceramic material, bringing its artistic vision into a significant cultural space where design, art, and literature come together.
